๐ Most Multicultural Suburbs in Sydney
Australia is one of the most multicultural nations on earth, and that diversity is reflected in its suburbs. These rankings use the Simpson's Diversity Index โ a scientific measure of biodiversity adapted for demographics โ to identify suburbs where the greatest number of ancestries coexist in the most balanced proportions. A higher index means more diversity: no single group dominates. Based on ABS Census 2021 ancestry data, filtered to suburbs with 1,000+ residents.

๐ Methodology
Rankings use the Simpson's Diversity Index (1 โ ฮฃpยฒ), a scientific measure where higher values indicate greater diversity. An index of 0.92 means there's a 92% chance that two randomly selected residents would report different ancestries. Only suburbs within the Greater Sydney area with 1,000+ residents were included. "Not Stated" and "Other" categories were excluded from calculations. Based on self-reported ancestry from ABS Census 2021.
