About Annuello
Annuello is a remote locality in Victoria's Mallee region, situated within the Rural City of Swan Hill approximately 107 kilometres from Swan Hill township and over 430 kilometres from Melbourne. With a population of just 40 at the 2021 census, it is one of Victoria's smallest communities, set amid vast wheat-growing plains. The area was established by soldier settlers after World War I, and a post office and railway station once served the community until the Robinvale railway line closed in 2008.
Life in Annuello revolves around broad-acre cropping and dryland farming, with wheat and other cereals dominating the flat Mallee landscape. The closure of the railway station in 1978 and eventual line closure in 2008 marked the end of a significant chapter for the community. Today, Annuello suits those deeply committed to a farming lifestyle in one of Victoria's most remote and wide-open rural settings.
Annuello falls under postcode 3549 and is governed by the local council Council (LGA). For state elections, residents vote in the Mildura (Northern Victoria) electorate.
