About Avoca Dell
Avoca Dell is a small riverside hamlet on the east bank of the Murray River, approximately 4 kilometres north of Murray Bridge town centre and around 75 kilometres south-east of Adelaide. The locality falls within the Rural City of Murray Bridge council area and covers just 0.72 square kilometres along the river corridor, making it one of the most compact communities in the region. With a 2021 Census population of 166 residents in 55 dwellings, Avoca Dell takes its name from the paddle steamer PS Avoca, which used this stretch of the river as a landing point.
The Murray River is the defining feature of Avoca Dell, with the locality home to a scenic riverside reserve that offers spectacular views and easy access to the water, as well as the Avoca Dell Caravan Park — a well-regarded destination for holiday-makers and grey nomads exploring the Murray. Its proximity to Murray Bridge makes it a convenient base for day trips to the Adelaide Hills, Barossa Valley, Hahndorf, the Coorong, and Victor Harbor. The area appeals to those seeking a relaxed river lifestyle with the services of Murray Bridge close at hand.
