About Blackbutt
Blackbutt is a residential suburb within the Shellharbour local government area on the NSW South Coast, located approximately 90 km south of Sydney. Situated just east of Albion Park and inland from Shellharbour City Centre, the suburb covers around 2.6 km² and is home to approximately 3,300 residents. It takes its name from the blackbutt eucalyptus trees native to the region and sits at a modest elevation of 54 metres. The suburb forms part of the greater Shellharbour urban area.
Blackbutt offers affordable suburban living within easy reach of the Illawarra coast, with the beaches of Shellharbour and Warilla a short drive away. The suburb attracts young families and working households drawn to its relatively lower property prices compared to the Wollongong corridor to the north.
