About Blackwall
Blackwall is a compact waterfront suburb on the Central Coast of New South Wales, situated on the eastern shore of Brisbane Water approximately 3 kilometres south-south-east of Woy Woy, 15 kilometres south of Gosford and 81 kilometres north of Sydney. The suburb covers just 1.2 square kilometres at an elevation of 8 metres and recorded a population of 1,941 at the 2021 census, reflecting a relatively high residential density of 1,620 persons per square kilometre for the Central Coast. Blackwall's western boundary fronts the sheltered Brisbane Water estuary, with the landmark Rip Bridge — a graceful arch bridge over the Rip, connecting to the Woy Woy peninsula — visible from the suburb's elevated ridgeline known as Blackwall Mountain. The suburb forms part of the Woy Woy–Brisbane Water coastal village cluster in the lower Central Coast.
Blackwall offers a relaxed waterside lifestyle popular with retirees, families and Sydney commuters who value the Central Coast's affordable housing, natural beauty and community atmosphere. Woy Woy (3 km north) provides the key local service hub with shops, cafes and Woy Woy station — one of the Central Coast's busiest rail interchange points — with frequent T1 Central Coast/Newcastle trains to Sydney. The sheltered Brisbane Water provides kayaking, sailing and fishing, while Pearl Beach, Patonga and the Bouddi National Park are within easy driving distance to the east. The Rip Bridge and the views across Brisbane Water to the undeveloped Hawkesbury River hinterland give Blackwall a distinctly scenic and nature-connected character within commuting range of Sydney.
Blackwall falls under postcode 2256 and is governed by Central Coast Council (LGA). For state elections, residents vote in the Gosford electorate.
