About Brim
Brim is a small agricultural township in Victoria's Wimmera region, located approximately 359 kilometres north-west of Melbourne on the Henty Highway within the Shire of Yarriambiack. Situated on the banks of the Yarriambiack Creek between the towns of Warracknabeal and Beulah, Brim covers a large area of around 344 square kilometres of typical Wimmera wheat and grain farming country. The 2021 Census recorded 181 residents, reflecting the modest but tight-knit community that has called this productive agricultural district home for generations.
Brim gained national and international attention in 2016 when acclaimed artist Guido van Helten painted enormous photorealistic murals of local residents onto the town's disused grain silos, sparking the now-famous Silo Art Trail that stretches across the Wimmera Mallee region and draws tens of thousands of visitors each year. The town offers a primary school, general store, and strong community spirit typical of rural Victoria. For those seeking a genuine outback farming lifestyle with an unexpected cultural drawcard, Brim presents a distinctive and welcoming community in the heart of the Victorian Wimmera.
Brim falls under postcode 3391 and is governed by the local council Council (LGA). For state elections, residents vote in the Lowan (Western Victoria) electorate.
