About Bullaring
Bullaring is a small rural locality in the Shire of Corrigin in Western Australia's Wheatbelt region, situated approximately 232 kilometres south-east of Perth. Gazetted as a townsite in 1914 along the railway line between Corrigin and Wickepin, the locality takes its name from an Aboriginal word referring to a nearby spring. Covering an extensive 559 square kilometres of flat agricultural land at an elevation of around 288 metres, Bullaring had a 2021 Census population of 82 residents — a tight-knit farming community supported primarily by wheat production.
Wheat farming is the dominant industry in Bullaring, with the locality serving as a Cooperative Bulk Handling (CBH) grain receival site — a central facility for the surrounding farms to deliver their harvest for storage and export. The broader Shire of Corrigin promotes the area's rural lifestyle and agricultural heritage, with Corrigin township itself, approximately 30 kilometres to the north, being the closest centre for supermarket shopping, medical services, a primary school, and community facilities. Perth is reached via the Great Southern Highway in around two and a half hours, making Bullaring a genuinely remote community where the farming calendar and community spirit define daily life.
Bullaring falls under postcode 6373 and is governed by the local council Council (LGA). For state elections, residents vote in the Central Wheatbelt (Agricultural) electorate.
