About Bullarto South
Bullarto South is a small rural locality in the Shire of Hepburn in central Victoria, lying in the elevated spa country approximately 8 kilometres south of Daylesford and around 110 kilometres north-west of Melbourne CBD. With a population of just 48 residents across 22.7 square kilometres, it is one of the more sparsely settled localities in the Daylesford–Macedon Ranges region, characterised by undulating farmland, native bush, and the crisp air of the Great Dividing Range foothills at an elevation of around 700 metres.
The surrounding Hepburn Shire is celebrated for its mineral springs, day spas, and artisan food scene, meaning Bullarto South residents live on the doorstep of one of Victoria's premier weekend-retreat destinations. Daylesford's cafés, galleries, Lake Daylesford, and the Convent Gallery are all a short drive away. The nearby town of Bullarto (to the north) is served by the heritage Daylesford Spa Country Railway, and Ballarat—Victoria's largest regional city—is around 45 kilometres to the south for major shopping and services.
Bullarto South falls under postcode 3461 and is governed by the local council Council (LGA). For state elections, residents vote in the Macedon (Northern Victoria) electorate.
