About Burren Junction
Burren Junction is a small rural locality in the north-western plains of New South Wales, situated approximately 80 kilometres north-west of Narrabri in the Narrabri Shire. Covering an expansive 1,354 square kilometres of flat, semi-arid farming country, it is home to around 225 residents. The area is centred on a small township that serves the surrounding agricultural district, which is dominated by cotton, wheat, and sheep grazing.
Burren Junction is best known for its artesian hot springs, which draw visitors from across New South Wales and beyond for their therapeutic, mineral-rich waters. The naturally heated bore water pools offer a unique outback bathing experience in an otherwise quiet and remote setting. The community has a genuine bush character, with a local pub, small general store, and strong agricultural heritage underpinning daily life.
Burren Junction falls under postcode 2386 and is governed by the local council Council (LGA). For state elections, residents vote in the Barwon electorate.
