Charbon is a small rural locality in the Central Tablelands of New South Wales, situated near the town of Kandos in the Mid-Western Regional Council area, approximately 210 kilometres north-west of Sydney. The area is closely linked to the history of the Kandos cement works, one of the largest cement manufacturers in Australia for much of the 20th century, and the name 'Charbon' itself reflects the region's coalmining and industrial heritage. With a very small population, Charbon is classified as a locality rather than a town, with most residents relying on nearby Kandos (population ~1,400) and Rylstone for services and amenities.
