Cobungra is a small rural locality in the Victorian High Country, situated in the Alpine Shire approximately 15 kilometres north of Omeo in East Gippsland. The area encompasses around 182 square kilometres of rugged alpine and sub-alpine terrain, with the Cobungra River flowing through the valley. With a population of only around 58 people, Cobungra is one of Victoria's most sparsely settled localities, characterised by cattle grazing runs, high plains pastoralism, and dramatic mountain scenery.
