About Cremorne Point
Cremorne Point is a prestigious harbourside suburb on Sydney's Lower North Shore, positioned on a scenic peninsula between Shell Cove and Mosman Bay just six kilometres north of the Sydney CBD, within the North Sydney Council local government area. With a 2021 census population of approximately 2,270 residents spread across just 0.43 square kilometres, it is one of Sydney's most densely settled and sought-after waterfront enclaves. The suburb commands sweeping views of Sydney Harbour and the city skyline, with median weekly household incomes reflecting its status as one of Australia's wealthiest communities. Originally Cammeraygal Country, it was later known as Careening Point after HMS Sirius from the First Fleet was refurbished in Mosman Bay in 1788.
Cremorne Point's greatest asset is its publicly accessible foreshore reserve, which wraps almost entirely around the peninsula and offers some of Sydney's finest harbour-walking routes past historic boatsheds, rock pools, and manicured gardens. The suburb is home predominantly to established professionals, retirees, and affluent families drawn by the combination of harbour lifestyle, elite privacy, and swift ferry access to the CBD. Cremorne Point Wharf connects residents directly to Circular Quay in around 15–20 minutes, while nearby Cremorne Junction on the Neutral Bay side provides cafés, specialty shops, and a cinema. The heritage character of the area is reinforced by several state-listed buildings, including the landmark Monterey residential apartments on Avenue Road.
Cremorne Point falls under postcode 2090 and is governed by North Sydney Council (LGA). For state elections, residents vote in the North Shore electorate.
