About Crowea
Crowea is a sparsely populated rural locality in the Shire of Manjimup, nestled in the South West region of Western Australia, approximately 340 kilometres south of Perth. Covering a vast 269 square kilometres of karri, marri and jarrah bushland, the locality borders Northcliffe to the south, with the South Western Highway forming its eastern boundary and the Warren River tracing much of its northern edge. With a recorded population of just 97 residents across 37 dwellings in the 2021 Census, Crowea is one of the most lightly settled localities in the region, characterised by scattered rural holdings and expansive native forest.
Much of Crowea's land is given over to protected natural areas, with portions of Greater Hawke National Park in the west, Greater Dordagup National Park to the east, and a section of Jane National Park in the south. The locality once hosted stops on the historic Northcliffe Branch Railway, including Warren Bridge, Yeagarup, Dombakup and Terry's Siding, though the line has long since closed. Crowea sits on the traditional land of the Bibulman people of the Noongar nation. For those who value deep bushland seclusion and proximity to some of WA's most dramatic old-growth forest landscapes, Crowea offers a truly remote rural retreat.
Crowea falls under postcode 6258 and is governed by the local council Council (LGA). For state elections, residents vote in the Warren-Blackwood (South West) electorate.
