Deepwater is a small historic town on the Northern Tablelands of New South Wales, situated 40 kilometres north of Glen Innes along the New England Highway. The town sits at an elevation of 974 metres on the northern bank of the Deepwater River, a tributary of the Mole River, and recorded a population of 456 in the 2021 census. The area falls within the Glen Innes Severn Council local government area and is approximately 644 kilometres north of Sydney.

Deepwater is a popular destination for outdoor enthusiasts who enjoy fishing, hiking, birdwatching, gem fossicking and motorbike riding in the surrounding New England region. The town has two hotels with accommodation and a bed and breakfast catering to visiting tourists and travellers on the New England Highway. The old Main North railway line, now closed, once passed through the town, and the predominant age group of residents skews older, with many retirees drawn to the peaceful rural lifestyle.
