About Dry Creek
Dry Creek is a mostly industrial suburb situated in northern Adelaide, South Australia, approximately 14 kilometres north of the Adelaide CBD. Spanning around 25 square kilometres, it is divided between the City of Salisbury and the City of Port Adelaide Enfield local government areas. The suburb takes its name from the Dry Creek waterway, which flows through the area and into Barker Inlet on Gulf St Vincent. With a residential population of 232, Dry Creek functions primarily as an industrial and logistics precinct rather than a conventional residential suburb.
Dry Creek is characterised by extensive industrial estates, warehousing, and former salt crystallisation pans — a large portion of which ceased operation in 2014 with plans to redevelop the land for up to 10,000 new homes. The suburb contains significant wetlands including those connected to Barker Inlet, providing important ecological value. Dry Creek railway station offers rail access on the Gawler and Outer Harbor lines, making it convenient for industrial workers. The nearby suburbs of Mawson Lakes and Gepps Cross offer residential amenities including shops, schools, and services.
Dry Creek falls under postcode 5094 and is governed by the local council Council (LGA). For state elections, residents vote in the Taylor electorate.
