About Endrick
Endrick is an uninhabited rural locality in the South Coast hinterland of New South Wales, situated within the Morton National Park and surrounding conservation areas approximately 35 kilometres west-north-west of Ulladulla and between the escarpment country of the Shoalhaven River headwaters. The locality covers 162 square kilometres of rugged sandstone plateau and deep forested gorges and recorded a population of zero at the 2021 census, confirming it as entirely undeveloped wilderness and conservation land. Endrick takes its name from the Endrick River, a headwater tributary of the Shoalhaven system that flows through the locality's remote gorge country within Morton National Park. The locality is one of the most inaccessible in the NSW South Coast hinterland, characterised by vertical sandstone cliffs, dense forest and spectacular gorge scenery.
Endrick's entire area falls within or adjacent to the Morton and Budawang national parks, forming part of a vast wilderness corridor that extends from the Southern Highlands escarpment to the South Coast ranges. The locality is a destination for serious bushwalkers and canyoners exploring the remote Endrick River gorges and the spectacular Pigeon House Mountain–Budawang wilderness circuit. Access is limited to rough unsealed roads and walking tracks from nearby localities such as Nerriga and Braidwood to the west, or the Princes Highway communities to the east. There are no services of any kind in Endrick; the nearest communities are Nerriga and Braidwood, with Ulladulla providing the nearest coastal service town.
Endrick falls under postcode 2622 and is governed by the local council Council (LGA). For state elections, residents vote in the South Coast electorate.
