About Eurunderee
Eurunderee is a small rural locality in the Mid-Western Regional Council area of New South Wales, approximately 6 kilometres north of Mudgee in the Central Tablelands. With a 2021 Census population of 186, the locality covers nearly 48 square kilometres of rolling vineyard country and pastoral land. Eurunderee holds a special place in Australian literary history as the birthplace of poet Henry Lawson, born here in 1867 — Henry Lawson Drive, which runs through the locality, commemorates this enduring cultural heritage.
The locality is home to some of Mudgee's most celebrated cellar doors, including Craigmoor — established in 1858 and considered the oldest winery in the Mudgee region — as well as Bunnamagoo Estate and Mudgee Wines Estate. The surrounding countryside features vineyards, farm properties, and native bushland typical of the Central Tablelands, making it a quiet rural retreat within easy reach of Mudgee's cafes, restaurants, and services. Those drawn to Eurunderee are typically acreage owners, wine tourism enthusiasts, and those seeking a pastoral lifestyle steeped in Australian history.
Eurunderee falls under postcode 2850 and is governed by the local council Council (LGA). For state elections, residents vote in the Upper Hunter electorate.
