About Gracetown
Gracetown is a small coastal locality in Western Australia's Margaret River region, situated within the Shire of Augusta-Margaret River approximately 270 kilometres south of Perth and around 15 kilometres north of Margaret River town. Sheltered by the sweeping arc of Cowaramup Bay, the locality has a permanent population of around 238 residents across 40 square kilometres, swelling significantly during holidays when its many holiday homes fill with visitors. The area falls within the Vasse state electorate and the federal Division of Forrest.
Gracetown is renowned for its world-class surf breaks — North Point and South Point flank Cowaramup Bay, offering conditions for both seasoned big-wave surfers and calmer swimming at the beach itself. The Cape to Cape Track, one of Western Australia's most celebrated long-distance walking trails, crosses the beach and runs through the locality. A general store serves the town's basic needs, while the broader Margaret River region offers wineries, restaurants, and services. The locality attracts surfers, holiday-makers, and those seeking a relaxed coastal lifestyle in a spectacular natural setting.
Gracetown falls under postcode 6284 and is governed by the local council Council (LGA). For state elections, residents vote in the Vasse (South West) electorate.
