About Grasmere

Grasmere is a semi-rural suburb in the Macarthur Region of south-western Sydney, located approximately 74 kilometres from the Sydney CBD within the Camden Council area. With a population of around 2,100, it retains much of its historic rural character dating back to the early 1800s when wool pioneer John Macarthur was granted land in the area. The suburb sits at an elevation of about 92 metres and features a mix of acreage properties and newer rural-residential developments. Grasmere is part of one of Sydney's fastest-growing corridors, though it maintains a distinctly country feel.

Life in Grasmere centres around its rural landscape, with many residents enjoying hobby farms, horse properties, and large garden spaces. The nearby town of Camden provides shopping, dining, and essential services, while the suburb itself offers a peaceful retreat from urban life. Grasmere is surrounded by heritage-listed farmland and scenic countryside. The area attracts families and tree-changers seeking space and a slower pace of life while remaining within reach of Sydney's employment centres.

Grasmere falls under postcode 2570 and is governed by Camden Council (LGA). For state elections, residents vote in the Camden electorate.
