Hartley is a historic village located in the City of Lithgow local government area of New South Wales, approximately 127 kilometres west of Sydney at an elevation of around 792 metres. It sits below the dramatic western escarpment of the Blue Mountains, flanked by Hartley Vale and Little Hartley, and is renowned for its remarkably well-preserved nineteenth-century streetscape. With a population of around 478, Hartley retains the character of an early colonial settlement that once served as a vital waypoint on the Great Western Road.
