Hotham Heights is a high-country locality in Victoria's Alpine Shire, situated within the Mount Hotham Alpine Resort at an altitude of approximately 1,750 metres above sea level in the Victorian Alps. The locality covers a large area of 377 square kilometres of alpine and sub-alpine terrain in the Great Dividing Range, located around 357 kilometres north-east of Melbourne. With a 2021 Census population of 128 permanent residents, Hotham Heights is a small but nationally significant ski resort community.
Mount Hotham Alpine Resort, centred on Hotham Heights, is one of Australia's premier snowfields, attracting thousands of skiers and snowboarders each winter across its extensive ski terrain. The resort features a range of accommodation, restaurants, ski hire shops, and the Summit ski run. In summer, the area transforms into a hiking and mountain biking destination, with the iconic Hotham to Falls Creek Alpine Walking Track drawing adventurous visitors. The locality falls within the federal electorate of Indi and is managed under the Mount Hotham Alpine Resort Management Board.
