About Inglewood
Inglewood is a historic town in the Shire of Loddon in central Victoria, situated on the Calder Highway approximately 185 kilometres north-west of Melbourne and 45 kilometres north-west of Bendigo. With a population of 886 at the 2021 census, it is a small but characterful rural community set at an elevation of 149 metres in the Central Goldfields region. The town covers a large locality area of around 107 square kilometres amid Victoria's dry farming and goldfields country.
Inglewood is best known as the home of Australia's largest eucalyptus oil distillery, Bosisto's, and the only Eucalyptus Distillery Museum in the country — a unique heritage attraction that draws visitors from across the state. The town was a significant gold mining centre during the Victorian Gold Rush of the 1850s and 1860s, and its heritage streetscape along Brooke Street reflects that storied past. Today Inglewood is a quiet rural community serving the surrounding farming district, with local hotels, a primary school, and basic services, while Bendigo provides the nearest major retail and healthcare hub.
Inglewood falls under postcode 3517 and is governed by the local council Council (LGA). For state elections, residents vote in the Ripon (Western Victoria) electorate.
