About Jacobs Well
Jacobs Well is a secluded coastal community located on the southern shore of Moreton Bay, approximately 40 kilometres north of Surfers Paradise and 65 kilometres south of Brisbane, within the Gold Coast City Council local government area. With a population of around 2,882 and an area of nearly 14 square kilometres, the suburb stretches along the waterfront at the mouth of the Coomera River, giving it a distinctive estuarine character defined by mangroves, sandbanks and calm, sheltered water. Its relative isolation and lack of through traffic give Jacobs Well a tranquil, escape-from-it-all atmosphere.
The suburb is a favourite for recreational boating, fishing and kayaking, with a boat ramp, small marina and easy access to the Moreton Bay and Broadwater fishing grounds. Jacobs Well has a small village feel with a general store, café and a local pub, and the community prides itself on its friendly, laid-back culture. It attracts a mix of long-term locals, retirees and weekenders from the Gold Coast and Brisbane who are drawn by the water access and peaceful natural surroundings.
Jacobs Well falls under postcode 4208 and is governed by Gold Coast Council (LGA). For state elections, residents vote in the Coomera electorate.
