About Kincora
Kincora is a small rural locality in the Toowoomba Region of Queensland, situated in the Darling Downs approximately 15 kilometres from Pittsworth and around 45 kilometres south of Toowoomba. The locality covers around 77 square kilometres of agricultural land and falls within the federal electorate of Groom and the state electorate of Condamine. The 2021 Census recorded a population of 71 people, spread across approximately 27 dwellings, making Kincora a very lightly settled farming community. Like much of the southern Darling Downs, the area is characterised by highly productive black-soil cropping and grazing country.
Kincora has a long history of rural settlement, with the Kincora Provisional School opening as early as 7 May 1883, later becoming Kincora State School before closing in January 1963. Today, the locality is purely agricultural in character, with no local shops or services; Pittsworth is the nearest service town offering supermarkets, medical facilities, and primary schooling. The Darling Downs Fresh Eggs farm operates in the locality, representing one of the region's larger agricultural businesses. Kincora is only accessible by private vehicle, with the nearest significant transport infrastructure in Toowoomba and Oakey. The broad sweeping paddocks and wide skies of the Condamine plains define the landscape here.
Kincora falls under postcode 4356 and is governed by the local council Council (LGA). For state elections, residents vote in the Condamine electorate.
