Korong Vale is a small rural town in north-western Victoria, located within the Shire of Loddon approximately 232 kilometres north-west of Melbourne and 85 kilometres north-west of Bendigo. With a population of 143 at the 2021 Census, the town has a proud railway heritage as the historic junction of the Kulwin and Robinvale rail lines, which once supported a busy locomotive depot and railway yard. The town has its roots in the late 19th century, with the Korongvale Post Office opening in 1879.
Today Korong Vale is a quiet rural township surrounded by dryland wheat farming and mixed agriculture. The nearest service centre is Wedderburn, approximately 14 kilometres to the south-west, while Bendigo provides the closest full range of retail, medical, and educational services.
