About Lake Grace
Lake Grace is a small agricultural town in the eastern Wheatbelt region of Western Australia, located approximately 345 kilometres south-east of Perth on State Route 107. With a population of around 477–523 residents, the town serves as the main service centre for the Shire of Lake Grace and surrounding farming communities. Established in 1911, Lake Grace sits at an elevation of 286 metres and takes its name from the nearby salt lake, with the surrounding landscape characterised by vast wheat and sheep farming country.
The town provides essential services for the broader farming district including a hospital, school, hotels, fuel, and general retail, making it an important hub for the region's grain growing community. Lake Grace is located along the Hyden-Norseman Road corridor and sees some visitor traffic en route to Wave Rock and the southern Wheatbelt. The lifestyle here is quintessentially rural — wide open spaces, strong agricultural community ties, and a slower pace of life that appeals to those who embrace the character of regional WA.
Lake Grace falls under postcode 6353 and is governed by the local council Council (LGA). For state elections, residents vote in the Roe (Agricultural) electorate.
