About Landsborough
Landsborough is a historic hinterland town on Queensland's Sunshine Coast, located approximately 75 kilometres north of Brisbane and 20 kilometres west of Caloundra. With a population of around 4,450, it sits at the gateway between the coastal Sunshine Coast and the scenic hinterland ranges. The suburb has a median age of 40 and a predominantly Australian-born community, with a relaxed character that blends rural charm with growing suburban development.
Originally established in 1871 as a timber town, Landsborough retains its village atmosphere with heritage buildings, the iconic Landsborough Pub opposite the railway station, and a thriving community spirit. The town offers local shops, cafes, schools, and sporting facilities, while the surrounding area provides bushwalking, mountain biking, and access to the Glass House Mountains. Families and tree-changers are drawn to the affordable housing, larger blocks, and the convenience of a direct rail connection to Brisbane, making it an increasingly popular commuter suburb.
Landsborough falls under postcode 4550 and is governed by Sunshine Coast Council (LGA). For state elections, residents vote in the Caloundra electorate.
