About Laverton
Laverton is a western suburb of Melbourne, 17 km south-west of the CBD, straddling the Cities of Hobsons Bay and Wyndham. With a population of around 4,800 residents, this historically significant suburb was home to RAAF Williams (established 1926), Australia's third oldest air force base. The suburb features a mix of post-war housing and newer developments, with gentrification bringing renewed investment.
Laverton is exceptionally well-connected as the last Zone 1 stop on the Werribee Line, making it attractive for commuters. The suburb has two train stations (Laverton and Aircraft), direct freeway access via the Princes Freeway, and is adjacent to the new Williams Landing development. Local amenities include the Laverton Hub community centre, Melbourne Ballpark, and easy access to Altona Beach. The area attracts first-home buyers and investors seeking value close to the city.
Laverton falls under postcode 3028 and is governed by Hobsons Bay Council (LGA). For state elections, residents vote in the Laverton (Western Metropolitan) electorate.
