About Leslie Dam
Leslie Dam is a small locality in Queensland's Southern Downs Region, located approximately 14.6 kilometres west of Warwick and around 172 kilometres south-west of Brisbane. The area takes its name from the Leslie Dam — a concrete gravity dam completed in 1965 that impounds Sandy Creek to form Lake Leslie, which serves as a key water supply and irrigation resource for the Warwick district. The locality covers about 107 square kilometres of rural grazing and agricultural land with a 2021 Census population of 118 residents.
Lake Leslie is the centrepiece of the area, providing recreational opportunities including fishing, boating, and water-based leisure for residents of the surrounding Southern Downs. The locality itself is sparsely populated and rural in character, with all major services and facilities accessed in Warwick, a short drive to the east. Leslie Dam suits those who appreciate remote countryside living with the bonus of a scenic freshwater reservoir on their doorstep.
Leslie Dam falls under postcode 4370 and is governed by the local council Council (LGA). For state elections, residents vote in the Southern Downs electorate.
