About Londonderry

Londonderry is a vast, effectively uninhabited locality in the Shire of Coolgardie in the Goldfields-Esperance region of Western Australia, located approximately 572 kilometres east-northeast of Perth and 14 kilometres southwest of Coolgardie. Covering an enormous 1,082 square kilometres, it recorded a population of zero at the 2016 and 2021 censuses. Established in 1895 during the Western Australian gold rush, it sits at an elevation of 398 metres in arid bushland and scrub country.

Londonderry is a ghost town locality with no permanent residents, services, or infrastructure. The area retains historical significance as part of the Coolgardie goldfield that sparked one of Australia's largest gold rushes in the 1890s. Coolgardie, the nearest town, serves as the gateway to the region's mining heritage. The locality is of interest primarily to history enthusiasts, prospectors, and those exploring the remote outback of Western Australia.

Londonderry falls under postcode 2753 and is governed by Penrith Council (LGA). For state elections, residents vote in the Londonderry electorate.
