About Lords Hill
Lords Hill is a remote rural locality in the Snowy Monaro Regional Council area of far southern New South Wales, located near Bombala in the Monaro high plains region. The locality spans approximately 89 square kilometres of mountainous, forested terrain close to the border of Victoria, and has a very small permanent population of around 33 people. The surrounding landscape is characterised by native eucalypt forests, rolling grazing country, and the rugged terrain typical of the Monaro tablelands at elevations exceeding 700 metres. The region experiences cool to cold winters and mild summers.
Lords Hill sits within the broader Bombala district, which serves as the nearest service town offering basic amenities, schools, and medical facilities. The area attracts landholders, hobby farmers, and those seeking a deeply rural escape within the spectacular South Coast hinterland. Fishing in local streams, wildlife watching, and access to nearby Kosciuszko National Park and the Snowy Mountains make this an appealing locality for outdoor enthusiasts. The Monaro Highway connects the area to Cooma (approximately 80 km north) and the ACT.
Lords Hill falls under postcode 2632 and is governed by the local council Council (LGA). For state elections, residents vote in the Monaro electorate.
