About Merivale
Merivale is a rural locality in the Shire of Esperance within the Goldfields-Esperance region of Western Australia, located approximately 35 kilometres north of the town of Esperance. Covering a large area of around 445 square kilometres, the locality is home to just 87 residents and supports a mix of cropping farms and rural properties. It sits on the traditional land of the Noongar people and lies adjacent to the northern boundary of Cape Le Grand National Park, placing it in one of the most scenic farming districts in southern WA.
The locality is perhaps best known to visitors for the Esperance Stonehenge on Merivale Road, a full-scale replica of the iconic English monument that has become a quirky tourist drawcard for the Esperance region. The land supports grain farming with good rainfall and fertile soils relative to the broader WA wheatbelt. Esperance, the nearest substantial town, provides schools, hospitals, shopping, and other services, and is a short drive south via the South Coast Highway.
Merivale falls under postcode 6450 and is governed by the local council Council (LGA). For state elections, residents vote in the Roe (Agricultural) electorate.
