About Monduran
Monduran is a rural locality in the Bundaberg Region of Queensland, covering approximately 283 square kilometres of state forest and agricultural land roughly 40 kilometres north-west of Bundaberg. Lake Monduran, formed by the Fred Haigh Dam impounding the Kolan River, occupies much of the western boundary of the locality and is a significant natural and recreational feature. The 2021 Census recorded a population of 84 residents, reflecting the sparse settlement typical of this heavily forested and lakeshore locality.
The Bruce Highway passes through the southern section of Monduran, providing access east towards Bundaberg and north-west to Gin Gin. Large areas of the Monduran State Forest and the northern reaches of Littabella National Park lie within the locality, protecting diverse native bushland. Lake Monduran is popular with visitors for fishing, particularly for its barramundi population, with the Lake Monduran Holiday Park offering accommodation near the dam. Residents rely on Bundaberg for all major services, schools, and shopping.
Monduran falls under postcode 4671 and is governed by the local council Council (LGA). For state elections, residents vote in the Callide electorate.
