About Mooliabeenee
Mooliabeenee is a large rural locality in the Shire of Chittering, Western Australia, situated east of Gingin and approximately 70 kilometres north of Perth. Covering an expansive 106.5 square kilometres, the area is characterised by open farmland and bushland typical of the Chittering Valley region, with the Shire of Chittering providing local governance. With a small population of around 213 residents, it remains one of the more sparsely settled localities in the region.
Mooliabeenee has historical significance as the site of Mooliabeenee Station, part of the Midland Junction to Dongara railway line constructed in 1894, which is now managed by Arc Infrastructure as a freight line. The locality also features a 1,500-metre airstrip used during World War II. Residents are within easy driving distance of Bindoon and Muchea for basic services, and the broader Chittering region is popular with day-trippers from Perth for its scenic rural landscapes, wildflowers, and country drives.
