About Morgiana
Morgiana is a small rural locality in south-western Victoria, situated approximately 20 kilometres north of Heywood and around 35 kilometres north-east of Portland, in the Glenelg Shire. With a population of just 29 people spread across 32 square kilometres, it is one of the quieter localities in the region, set among the farming and grazing country of Victoria's far south-west. The area falls within the South-West Coast state electorate and the federal electorate of Wannon.
Morgiana is a deeply rural community where residents live on farming properties engaged in sheep grazing, beef cattle, and mixed cropping typical of the western district. Heywood is the nearest service town, offering essential amenities, while the larger city of Portland provides port facilities, an aluminium smelter, and broader commercial services about 35 kilometres to the south-west. The surrounding countryside features open volcanic plains and is within easy reach of the Discovery Bay coastline and the lower Glenelg National Park.
Morgiana falls under postcode 3301 and is governed by the local council Council (LGA). For state elections, residents vote in the South-West Coast (Western Victoria) electorate.
