About Mullaquana
Mullaquana is a small locality situated on the southern boundary of the city of Whyalla, on the northeastern corner of the Eyre Peninsula in South Australia. Covering approximately 16 square kilometres and bounded by the Lincoln Highway to the north and the city of Whyalla to the east, Mullaquana falls within the City of Whyalla local government area. With a population of 272 at the 2021 Census and a median taxable income of approximately 6,663, the locality offers a quiet residential and semi-rural fringe lifestyle adjacent to one of the Eyre Peninsula's major industrial cities.
Residents of Mullaquana enjoy proximity to Whyalla's full range of urban services, including schools, the Whyalla Hospital, shopping centres, and the Spencer Gulf foreshore. Whyalla's steelworks — one of Australia's largest — underpins much of the regional economy and provides significant local employment. The Eyre Peninsula setting also means residents are well placed to enjoy excellent fishing and boating on the Spencer Gulf, and the nearby Whyalla Conservation Park, while the world-famous leafy sea dragon viewing at Point Lowly provides a unique natural attraction close to home.
