About North Scottsdale
North Scottsdale is a small rural locality in the Dorset Council area of north-east Tasmania, situated approximately 4.6 kilometres north-east of the town of Scottsdale. Previously known as Bungana, the locality was gazetted in 1956 and is bounded in part by the Arnon River and the Great Forester River along its eastern boundary. The 2016 census recorded a population of 122, making it a very sparsely settled farming district.
North Scottsdale's landscape is defined by rolling pastoral farmland used primarily for beef cattle, dairying, and mixed cropping, which are the mainstays of the broader Dorset region. The nearby town of Scottsdale (less than 5 kilometres) provides all essential services including supermarkets, schools, and healthcare. The Bridport coast is within roughly 20 kilometres and offers beaches and a small marina, giving residents access to fishing and coastal recreation in addition to their rural lifestyle.
North Scottsdale falls under postcode 7260 and is governed by the local council Council (LGA). For state elections, residents vote in the Bass (Windermere) electorate.
