Preston is a small village in the North West region of Tasmania, located in the Central Coast Council municipal area near Upper Castra and approximately 12 kilometres south of the coastal town of Ulverstone. Set in the lush hill country above the Leven River valley, Preston is a quiet rural locality with a population of 149 at the 2021 Census, covering approximately 42 square kilometres of mixed farmland and bushland. The village has a long history, with Preston Post Office operating from 1896 until 1981.
