Prevelly is a small coastal townsite in the South West region of Western Australia, located at the mouth of the Margaret River approximately 9 kilometres west of the Margaret River township and 287 kilometres south-south-west of Perth. It falls within the Shire of Augusta-Margaret River local government area and had a population of 205 at the 2021 Census. Named after the Preveli Monastery on Crete — a nod to Australian soldiers sheltered there during World War II — Prevelly occupies a dramatic coastal setting on the northern edge of Calgardup Bay where the Margaret River meets the Indian Ocean.
Prevelly is renowned as one of Australia's premier surfing destinations, home to the famous Surfers Point (Main Break), which hosts international surfing competitions including the Margaret River Pro. The nearby Gnarabup Beach offers 1.6 kilometres of soft sand ideal for swimming and family outings, with the Margaret River Surf Life Saving Club based here.
