About Rendelsham
Rendelsham is a small rural town in the south-east of South Australia, situated on the Southern Ports Highway between Beachport and Millicent, approximately 392 kilometres south-east of Adelaide. It falls within the Wattle Range Council local government area, a district known for its productive agricultural landscape and proximity to the Limestone Coast region. The locality covers around 79 square kilometres of farming country, with local industries traditionally centred on dairy, cattle, sheep grazing, cropping, and carrot seed production.
Rendelsham has a quiet country character and a tight-knit community, with a community hall serving as the main gathering venue for locals. The nearby Lake Frome Conservation Park, approximately 6 kilometres to the west, protects rare and endemic plant species and offers a natural highlight of the area. The town of Millicent and the coastal town of Beachport are within easy driving distance, providing access to services, beaches, and the wider Limestone Coast amenities. Rendelsham previously had a narrow-gauge railway connection from 1878 until 1957, a reminder of its historical role in the region's development.
Rendelsham falls under postcode 5280 and is governed by the local council Council (LGA). For state elections, residents vote in the Mount Gambier electorate.
