About Sandy Grove
Sandy Grove is a small rural locality within the Kingston District Council area in the Limestone Coast region of South Australia, approximately 85 kilometres north-west of Mount Gambier and around 300 kilometres south-east of Adelaide. Established as a recognised locality in December 1998, it covers approximately 26.5 square kilometres of flat to gently undulating agricultural land typical of this part of the south-east. With a population of around 124, Sandy Grove is a quietly settled farming community amid the productive pastoral and cropping lands of the Limestone Coast.
The Limestone Coast is one of South Australia's most fertile agricultural regions, and Sandy Grove's surrounds are characterised by sheep, cattle, and mixed cropping enterprises. Everyday services are found in the nearby coastal town of Kingston SE, approximately 10–15 kilometres away, which offers schools, medical facilities, a supermarket, and the famous Big Lobster landmark. The wider region provides access to the Coorong National Park to the north and the scenic Limestone Coast wine regions, making it an attractive base for those who value a rural lifestyle within a short drive of coastal towns.
Sandy Grove falls under postcode 5275 and is governed by the local council Council (LGA). For state elections, residents vote in the Mackillop electorate.
