About Silverleaves
Silverleaves is a small coastal town on Phillip Island in Victoria, situated about 3 kilometres east of Cowes and 149 kilometres southeast of Melbourne. With a population of around 211 at the 2016 census, it falls within the Bass Coast Shire. The name derives from the silvery-grey leaves of the Coast Banksia trees that are abundant along the foreshore and dunes of the area.
Originally subdivided in the 1950s as a seaside holiday retreat, Silverleaves retains its peaceful, leafy character with modest beach houses nestled among banksia and tea-tree bushland. The town offers quiet beaches on Western Port Bay, ideal for swimming, kayaking, and fishing. Residents and holidaymakers enjoy proximity to Phillip Island's famous attractions including the Penguin Parade, Koala Conservation Centre, and the Grand Prix Circuit, while Cowes provides cafés, shops, and restaurants.
Silverleaves falls under postcode 3922 and is governed by the local council Council (LGA). For state elections, residents vote in the Bass (Eastern Victoria) electorate.
