About Strathallan
Strathallan is a small rural locality in north-central Victoria, situated on the banks of the Campaspe River roughly halfway between Rochester and Echuca within the Campaspe Shire. With a population of 180 residents and a land area of nearly 70 square kilometres, it is a sparsely settled agricultural community on the flat plains of the Campaspe floodplain. The locality was established in the early twentieth century around a railway siding on the Echuca line, and the surrounding land remains predominantly used for grazing and cropping.
The nearest services and amenities are found in Rochester, approximately 12 kilometres to the south, which offers supermarkets, schools, medical facilities, and community organisations. Strathallan itself is quiet and largely self-sufficient for farming families, with the Campaspe River providing scenic surroundings and irrigation opportunities. The Northern Highway passes through the region, connecting residents to Echuca in the north and Shepparton to the south-east.
Strathallan falls under postcode 3622 and is governed by the local council Council (LGA). For state elections, residents vote in the Murray Plains (Northern Victoria) electorate.
