About Toowoomba City

Toowoomba City is the central hub of Toowoomba, Queensland's largest inland city, perched at an elevation of 590 metres on the Great Dividing Range. Located approximately 125 kilometres west of Brisbane, the suburb had a population of around 2,100 at the 2016 Census. It serves as the commercial, cultural, and administrative heart of the Toowoomba region, known for its heritage buildings and the famous Carnival of Flowers held each September.

The CBD precinct features a vibrant mix of cafes, restaurants, boutique shops, and cultural venues including the Empire Theatre and Toowoomba Regional Art Gallery. Queens Park and the Japanese Garden are popular green spaces. The area appeals to young professionals, students from nearby University of Southern Queensland, and retirees drawn to the cooler climate. While primarily car-dependent, the suburb benefits from a local bus network and proximity to the new Toowoomba Wellcamp Airport.

Toowoomba City falls under postcode 4350 and is governed by Toowoomba Council (LGA). For state elections, residents vote in the Toowoomba North electorate.
