Upper Stowport is a small rural locality in north-west Tasmania, situated approximately 16 kilometres south of the regional centre of Burnie within the City of Burnie local government area. The 2021 Census recorded a population of 99, a slight decline from 105 in 2016. Covering about 16 square kilometres of hilly farmland and bushland, the locality is bounded by Chasm Creek to the east and the Emu River to the west.
The area is characterised by its quiet, rural atmosphere with properties set among rolling green hills and native bushland typical of Tasmania's north-west. Most homes are owner-occupied, reflecting a settled community of long-term residents.
