Wallalong is a semi-rural locality in the Port Stephens Council area of the Hunter Region, New South Wales, situated approximately 41 kilometres north-west of Newcastle and 15 kilometres north-east of Maitland on the fertile floodplains of the Hunter River. The locality covers 14.4 square kilometres of low-lying agricultural land at an elevation of just 6 metres, and recorded a population of 1,049 at the 2021 census. Wallalong's landscape is dominated by the rich alluvial flats of the Butterwick Plain, historically used for dairying, cropping and market gardens, with some rural-residential properties increasingly popular with Hunter Valley commuters. The area enjoys a warm, temperate climate typical of the lower Hunter Valley.

Wallalong offers a peaceful rural-residential lifestyle within commuting distance of both Newcastle and Maitland, making it popular with families and professionals seeking space and greenery without sacrificing urban accessibility.
