About Walpole
Walpole is a small coastal town in the Shire of Manjimup in Western Australia's south-west corner, located approximately 423 kilometres south-south-east of Perth and 66 kilometres west of Denmark along the South Western Highway. With a population of 429 residents across nearly 50 square kilometres, the town sits on the edge of Walpole Inlet within the renowned Walpole-Nornalup National Park — one of Australia's finest old-growth forest reserves. Walpole is internationally celebrated for the Valley of the Giants Tree Top Walk, a 600-metre elevated walkway through towering ancient red tingle trees, attracting visitors from around the world. The town is also a key waypoint on the Bibbulmun Track, one of Australia's great long-distance walking trails, making it popular with bushwalkers and eco-tourists throughout the year. Walpole offers essential services for its small residential community including a general store, tavern, and visitor centre, while its tranquil inlet setting, surrounding old-growth karri and tingle forests, and vibrant ecotourism scene make it one of the South West's most distinctive and sought-after places to live.
