Warenda is an extraordinarily remote outback locality in the Shire of Boulia, deep in Queensland's Channel Country, situated approximately 126 kilometres north-east of Boulia and 1,691 kilometres north-west of Brisbane. Covering 3,320 square kilometres of vast, flat floodplain country, the locality recorded a negligible population at the 2021 census, consisting of a handful of people on isolated cattle stations. The landscape is defined by the braided watercourses of the Channel Country, which seasonally flood from monsoon rains far to the north, transforming the arid plains into inland seas that support some of Australia's most productive natural pastures for beef cattle. The area lies within one of the most geographically isolated and climatically extreme parts of Australia.

Warenda offers no local services, shops or facilities of any kind; life here revolves entirely around extensive cattle station operations and the rhythms of the outback seasons. The closest town with any services is Boulia, roughly 126 kilometres to the south-west, which serves as the administrative and service hub for this part of the Channel Country. The region is famous for the Min Min Lights phenomenon, with the nearby Min Min locality lending its name to the mysterious atmospheric light anomalies reported by travellers in the area for generations. Warenda's sheer remoteness and vast open landscapes attract adventurous outback travellers and those with a deep appreciation for Australia's wild interior.
