About Whitlam

Whitlam is a contemporary growth suburb in Canberra's Molonglo Valley district, located approximately 10 kilometres west of Canberra's Civic centre in the ACT. Named after former Prime Minister Gough Whitlam, it was the first Molonglo Valley suburb developed north of the Molonglo River, with the first residents moving in during 2021. The suburb is being delivered in four stages as part of one of Canberra's largest urban expansion projects.

Designed with sustainability and liveability in mind, Whitlam features modern homes, townhouses, and apartments integrated with cycling paths, parks, and connections to the Molonglo Valley's nature reserve network. The suburb is attracting young families and professionals who value contemporary housing, open space, and proximity to Canberra's employment hubs in Weston Creek and the city centre. While still maturing, planned community facilities and future light rail connections to the Molonglo Valley corridor are expected to enhance the suburb's appeal over the coming years.

Whitlam falls under postcode 2611 and is governed by the local council Council (LGA). For state elections, residents vote in the Murrumbidgee electorate.
