Beechworth is a historic gold rush town located 284 kilometres north-east of Melbourne in Victoria's Indigo Shire. The town has a population of approximately 3,290 and sits at an elevation of 560 metres in the foothills of the Australian Alps. Famous for its remarkably well-preserved 19th-century streetscapes, Beechworth is one of Victoria's most intact gold-era towns.
